6:30 AM – Morning Routine:

As the first light of dawn creeps through the curtains, Aaron begins his day with a cherished ritual. He brews a strong cup of tea, always with two sugars, no less, setting a peaceful tone for the day ahead.

This tranquil period, spent in the comfort of his living room, allows him to either indulge in a bit of gaming or catching up on the morning news on television.

This time is sacred for Aaron, offering him a few moments of solitude before the day fully begins.

As the household begins to stir, Aaron prepares his simple yet unwavering breakfast choice—Weetabix.

The quick and easy preparation suits his busy lifestyle perfectly, especially on those days when he needs to make the trip over to the Bristol office.

Having a consistent breakfast routine helps keep his mornings streamlined and focused, readying him for the workday ahead.

8:00 AM – Review and Planning:

Aaron settles into his home office, a space thoughtfully organised to foster productivity and creativity, meaning its full of Lego creations and has a suitably comfy sofa tucked into the corner.

The first task at hand is to meticulously review his calendar for any gaps between meetings on Outlook and teams’ calendar.

As the Head of Digital Platforms at Changing Social, his presence is often required across various departments. Finding even a two-hour gap is a victory, as it allows him to tackle priority tasks from his Microsoft To Do list.

If no such gaps exist on the day, he sips his tea and prepares for the meetings of the day, starting typically around 8:30 AM.

9:00 AM – Morning Meetings:

The first round of meetings generally revolves around strategic discussions and project updates. These sessions are essential for aligning with his team and ensuring that everyone is on the same page.

Despite the formal agenda, Aaron tries to inject a casual warmth into the meetings, making them less about directives and more about collaborative problem-solving and that’s why he loves working with his team so much.

11:00 AM – Focused Work Time:

When the meeting marathon ends, Aaron dedicates time to hands-on tasks, particularly app development or tactfully adding or ticking tasks from his Microsoft to Do list, a list in which he lives by.

App development is where Aaron started and where his passions lie, so therefore this is a task that he cherishes on his calendar.

This work not only utilises his extensive skills in software development but is also he finds doing it, deeply satisfying. Crafting an application from the ground up, solving problems along the way, and ultimately seeing a functioning tool in use is immensely rewarding for him.

1:00 PM – Lunch Break:

Aaron believes in the importance of taking a proper lunch break to decompress and step away from the demands of work.

He often enjoys his lunch in a quiet corner of the house near the conservatory, where he can bask in the natural light and occasionally enjoy views of the garden, we live in England so as you may know, the rain blocks the view sometimes…

This break is a time for personal reflection and a bit of downtime with family if they are around.

This is all done with his favourite lunch, a jacket potato, who doesn’t enjoy this. A classic cheese and beans.

2:00 PM – Afternoon Collaboration:

Post-lunch, Aaron’s schedule typically resumes with team collaboration.

This might involve brainstorming sessions, project planning, or simply catching up through various group chats.

He is an advocate for open communication and encourages his team to work out loud, sharing ideas and challenges freely, which fosters a dynamic and supportive work environment the same goes for the whole of Changing Social.

4:00 PM – Navigating Challenges when being Head of Digital Platforms:

One of the more challenging aspects of Aaron’s role involves constant context switching.

The ability to pivot quickly from one task to another—whether it’s responding to a sudden client request in the morning, strategizing on a new deployment, or to do troubleshooting an unexpected issue for the team – is crucial.

Managing these shifts effectively requires not only technical acumen but also a high degree of emotional intelligence. This means determining what needs immediate attention and what doesn’t.

6:00 PM – Day’s End and Review:

As the workday winds down, Aaron takes time to review the day’s accomplishments and outline the next day’s priorities on his famous To Do list.

This structured reflection helps him ensure continuity and effectiveness in managing his responsibilities. There is nothing quite as satisfying as ticking off a task at the end of the day.

It’s also a time when he can assess any pending issues that need to be carried forward or escalated.

Evening – Wind Down and Personal Time:

After dinner, Aaron dedicates time to his personal interests, which help him unwind and maintain a healthy work-life balance which is important to us here at Changing Social.

Whether it’s assembling intricate Lego models with his daughter, exploring new techniques in photography, or planning visits to upcoming air shows, these activities enrich his life beyond the office and help him in the office, with creative hobbies outside of work it helps him solve issues with creativity at work.

Reflections on the Day of being Head of Digital Platforms:

Through a blend of rigorous planning, team interactions, and personal hobbies, Aaron navigates his role as the Head of Digital Platforms team with both enthusiasm and efficiency and curiosity.

Each day offers new challenges and opportunities for growth, making his professional journey both fulfilling and dynamic.
