March is here, and with it Spring arrives, along with another round of exciting updates for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Whether you’re an admin managing Copilot access across your organisation or you are the end user looking to boost your productivity, this month’s enhancements truly cover it all, bringing even more power to your favourite Microsoft Apps.
Now, let’s take a look at what’s new in Copilot this March.
End User Capabilities
Copilot Pages on Mobile
Copilot Pages, a feature designed to streamline collaboration and information sharing, is now accessible on mobile devices. Users can now view, edit, and share Pages while on the go, ensuring productivity isn’t limited to the desktop experience. Microsoft has also teased that mobile users will soon be able to create new Pages directly from their device – we can’t wait for that!
Gain insights from images with Copilot Chat.
Copilot Chat can now analyse images, helping users extract insights from uploaded content. Whether you’re using the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat app, Teams, Outlook, or the Edge sidebar, you can now simply upload an image and let Copilot provide context, summaries, and even deeper insights into it.
GCC availability and meeting recap enhancements in Teams
Good news for government users – Copilot in Teams meetings will now be available for GCC (Government Community Cloud). This rollout enables users to run more efficient meetings by summarising discussions, highlighting key actions, and allowing for quick catch-ups via AI-powered insights.
Additionally, Microsoft has made it easier to share meetings recaps. Participants can now share a link to the recap directly from the meeting thumbnail in chat or the recap tab, making it more straightforward to reference and distribute meeting summaries within their organisation.
Enhanced AI-powered insights in Excel
Copilot in Excel is becoming even smarter with tenant-rooted insights and new prompt suggestions. Users can now ask Copilot to analyse workbooks with contextual awareness across their organisation, pulling in relevant data from documents, emails, and chat to enhance reporting and decision-making.
In addition, Excel’s Copilot now supports Python, allowing users to generate powerful data visualisations and automate advanced calculations simply by asking Copilot in natural language.
The language expansion now includes English, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish, making Python-based analysis more accessible globally.
More summarisation and coaching features in Word
Copilot in Word can now summarise documents up to 1.5 million words (around 3000 pages), a massive leap from the previous limit of 80000 words. This update makes it easier than ever to get quick overviews of lengthy reports, research papers or contracts.
Additionally, Copilot’s coaching features continue to evolve. It now offers advanced writing suggestions beyond simple grammar and spelling checks, helping users refine their writing style, structure and impact.
PowerPoint gains translation and speaker notes drafting
Copilot in PowerPoint can now translate entire presentations into 40 languages while maintaining slide design integrity. Whether preparing training decks or client presentations. This update saves much time and ensures content reaches a broader audience effortlessly.
Another fantastic addition is Copilot’s ability to generate speaker notes. Instead of manually drafting notes for each slide, users can now have Copilot create a first draft, making presentations smoother and more polished.
Admin and Management Capabilities
Listen out, admins. You now have greater control over Copilot access for business-to-business (B2B) members within multi-tenant organisations. With a new policy in the Teams admin centre, IT admins can turn Copilot on or off for meetings between B2B members in multi-tenant environments. By default, this setting is switched on, allowing licensed users to access Copilot when joining meetings hosted by their organisation. This update ensures a seamless and secure experience for cross-tenant collaboration.
