Welcome to the April 2025 edition of What’s New in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Each month, we provide a summary of the latest updates to help Microsoft 365 admins and users stay informed about the evolving capabilities of Copilot. From new management tools to richer user experiences, April’s updates continue to build on the strong foundation of AI-powered productivity.
Here’s a look at what’s new this month.
User Capabilities
Use Copilot During Teams Calls Without Transcription or Recording
You can now use Copilot in Teams Phone calls even when transcription or recording isn’t switched on.
This is ideal for conversations where maintaining a permanent record isn’t necessary. Once your admin enables it, just tap the Copilot option during a live call. It’ll help you summarise key points, assign tasks, and capture next steps – all in real time, making your calls more productive without compromising privacy.
This feature is currently in public preview and is expected to be generally available in May.
Rich Content and Enhanced Flexibility in Copilot Pages
There’s now more flexibility when working with Copilot Pages. Whether you’re starting from scratch or working in an existing page, you can insert Copilot-generated content where needed or spread it across multiple pages in a single chat.
You can also bring in rich media like code blocks, tables, mermaid diagrams, and charts using enterprise or web data – perfect for making your content more dynamic.
These updates are live now, with more formatting features coming throughout in this Copilot Update in April.
Access Web Data in Copilot for Excel
Copilot in Excel just got even more useful. You can now pull public data from the web – like stats, exchange rates, or country lists – without ever leaving Excel.
It makes collecting and using external info easier, helping you stay focused and save time. This feature is now available.
Use Copilot Agents in Outlook
Copilot agents are now available in the new Outlook experience via Copilot Chat.
They’re here to help automate tasks, create content, and offer tailored support – all without leaving Outlook. It’s another way to cut down on context switching and make everyday comms that bit smarter. This feature rolled out in March.
Gain Insights from Images in OneDrive
You can now ask Copilot in OneDrive to analyse and answer questions about images.
Whether it’s identifying objects, reading text, or summarising what’s going on, Copilot does the heavy lifting – no need to dig through files manually.
It’s especially helpful if you work with lots of image content. This feature has been available since February.
Admin Capabilities
New Copilot Data Source in Microsoft Purview Data Explorer
Admins now have more visibility into how Copilot interacts with sensitive data.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is now a data source in Microsoft Purview Data Explorer. It helps detect when content in a Copilot prompt or response includes sensitive information, and gives a clear view of the types found, with easy navigation to where they appear. This Copilot update is rolling out throughout April.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Case Builder for SMBs
If you’re in a small or medium-sized business and considering Copilot, there’s now a Business Case Builder to help. Based on insights from Forrester’s New Technology: Projected Total Economic Impact™ study, this tool estimates the value Copilot could bring over three years, covering areas like customer service, sales, marketing, and retention, along with projected savings and growth. It’s a handy starting point for building your AI adoption plans.
That concludes this month’s round-up of new features in Microsoft 365 Copilot. If your organisation is looking to explore Copilot in more depth – whether that’s pilot planning, training, or integration support – our team at Changing Social is here to help.
