As we pack away our pumpkins it’s time to unpack another month of updates, Microsoft continues to innovate with a fresh batch of updates for Teams, Copilot, SharePoint, and much more, it’s time to unpack another month of updates.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a long-lost whiteboard image, collaborating beyond your organisation’s walls, or exploring new AI-powered video tools, November updates are designed to empower you and your team to work smarter.

Smarter Search in Teams: Find Your Images Instantly

If you’ve ever lost valuable time scrolling through Microsoft Teams chats to find a screenshot or a photo, there’s good news.

The latest image search function being introduced into Microsoft Teams makes it incredibly easy to find any visual content shared in your chats or channels.

Now, to search for images directly from the Teams search bar by entering keywords or the sender’s name. As you begin to type, Teams will intuitively suggest relevant images based on both message content and the person who sent them.

Search results are now enhanced with a dedicated Images tab, so you can see exactly where each picture was shared. With just one click, images open in a user-friendly carousel viewer, allowing you to browse through your visuals seamlessly. The best part is that no setup is required; the feature is available and ready for everyone who has Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams Update

Apps in Shared Channels

Working across multiple teams or even different organisations has become more and more common.

Microsoft Teams now lets you add apps – such as bots, tabs, or message extensions right into Shared Channels, opening up new doors for collaboration.

You are now able to add apps at the individual channel level, giving you more control and customisation than ever before. Channel owners maintain oversight by deciding who is allowed to add which apps, keeping each space secure and relevant to its purpose. External users, including guests from other organisations, can participate and use apps if the admin settings permit it.

This powerful new approach is available across desktop, web, and mobile, ensuring that everyone can participate, regardless of their device, and there’s nothing extra to configure.

SharePoint Document Library Redesign

SharePoint users will notice a significant upgrade to document libraries, making the experience cleaner, faster, and more intuitive.

The new Create or Upload button conveniently brings common actions together in one place, streamlining your workflow. Navigating between folder levels is much easier thanks to improved breadcrumb navigation. You’ll also find that filters and custom views are more visible and easier to manage, letting you organise files to suit your needs. The addition of a new Options button grants you quick access to layout and sorting tools, making workspace customisation straightforward. Importantly, your existing customisations remain unaffected, so you can confidently embrace the new look and feel. These enhancements mean less time spent searching for files and more time focused on your work.

Copilot: AI Video Creation for Everyone

Video creation powered by AI is now within reach for everyone, not just those with specialist licences or technical expertise.

Microsoft is introducing new video creation features in the M365 Copilot app’s Create experience, and anyone with access to Copilot Chat can take advantage, even without a full Copilot licence. Through natural language prompts and supported files such as Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents, you can craft professional-looking videos with ease. The process lets you build your video using stock content, and you can edit transcripts and audio for a polished final product.

The rollout begins in early November, available on Web, Windows, and macOS, with global access planned by month’s end.

Copilot Email Drafting: One Click to Outlook

Writing emails just got simpler. Microsoft’s new Edit in Outlook button streamlines the email drafting process with Copilot. When Copilot recognises that you’re working on an email, for example: when you ask it to draft a message to your team, the Edit in Outlook button appears. Clicking it opens Outlook with your draft email already prepared, including both the subject and body. This feature is ready to use for anyone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. With these improvements, moving from drafting to sending emails is faster and more reliable, saving you time and reducing errors.
