Copilot GPT-5 has Landed

As of 7 August 2025, Copilot GPT-5 is now part of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio.

Copilot now uses a “real-time router” that chooses the best engine for your task. Quick, factual queries? You get high-throughput speed.  

Complex planning, multi-step analysis, or sensitive communications? Copilot switches to a deeper reasoning model designed to untangle the complicated and keep the details straight. 

Gone are the days of coaxing decent answers with carefully reworded prompts and endless copy-paste between apps. Copilot GPT-5 just, understands. 

 

Smarter work with ease

Yes, it’s faster, but it’s also more considerate. Copilot GPT-5 doesn’t churn out generic filler. It draws from your Microsoft 365 context, documents, emails, meetings, and chats to produce relevant responses.

How to try Copilot GPT-5

If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence, you’ll start to see an option to “Try GPT-5” within your apps. Enabling it means your Copilot responses will run on the new model. This is a staged rollout, so if it’s not there yet, it’s on its way. 

In Copilot Studio, GPT-5 is now the default for new builds. This gives organisations immediate access to the more advanced reasoning, improved accuracy, and richer conversational abilities without any extra configuration.
